Tableware*The Met Store Van Gogh Roses Dinner Plate

Our stoneware dinner plate features details from Roses, the celebrated still life in The Met collection by Vincent van Gogh (Dutch, 1853–1890). Decorating the dinner plate’s rim, the pretty ceramic design shows the artist’s lush rose petals and dark foliage on a pale green ground.

In May 1890, just before his departure from the asylum in Saint-Rémy, the artist painted an exceptional group of four still lifes, to which the Museum’s Roses, (and also Irises) belong. These stunning bouquets were created by Van Gogh as a thematic quartet.
