Tableware*The Met Store Harney & Sons American Quilt Peppermint

The Met has partnered with Harney & Sons on this unique, art-inspired tin containing loose peppermint leaves and displaying a detail from an American quilt (ca. 1830) featuring a honeycomb pattern in The Met collection.

Soothing peppermint evokes the comfort of this mesmerizing textile, the earliest wholly pieced American quilt in the Museum’s holdings. Elizabeth Van Horne Clarkson (American,1771–1852) is thought to have made this prismatic creation as a wedding present for her son.
